Socrates
A downloadable game for Windows
Socrates is a third-person narrative prototype set in an ancient Greek-inspired world, focused on dialogue, investigation, and philosophical questioning.
Explore the environment, speak with different characters, and follow a main quest built around conversations, social tension, and player choice. Dialogue is not just a menu of answers: NPCs can become fatigued if the player pushes too hard, repeats questions, or becomes too insistent, creating a softer form of consequence inside conversation.
The project also includes interactive points of interest, such as monuments and environmental details, that provide context about the world, its ideas, and its conflicts.
Features
- First-person exploration in an ancient Greek-inspired setting
- Branching dialogue with multiple NPCs
- Dialogue fatigue system, where characters can grow tired of excessive questioning
- Quest objectives tied to conversation and investigation
- Interactive monuments and points of interest with contextual information
- Philosophical tone centered on inquiry, belief, society, and persuasion
About
This prototype was created as a narrative and technical design exercise, with a focus on building dialogue systems, quest flow, player-driven questioning, and environmental storytelling.
The goal was to explore how philosophical conversation can become a playable system: not only through choosing what to ask, but through understanding when to keep pushing and when to stop.
